Radical Simplicity - Small Footprints on a Finite Earth - Jim Merkel

Summary
- A thoughtful book about how many people the planet earth can actually support. If we divided up all the arable land among the inhabitants, we would each get about 4 acres to live on. Which sounds like a lot, but when you consider how many acres it takes to build cars, feed meat, and so on, it may not be as much as we think. The average American uses 24 acres to maintain his lifestyle. So clearly this is unsustainable for all humankind. Merkel explores some potential solutions.
How I discovered it
How the book changed me
- It has made me more mindful of what I consume, even though to be honest in Africa we are on the low end of consumption. But really if the whole earth is to be inhabited peacefully, we will need some of these principles to be able to live in equanimity.
