- His results are shown by a car sold by Ford in 1950 in USA. It had a transmission built both in Japan and USA to the same specifications, yet quickly customers preferred the Japanese built version, even being willing to wait to get it. Ford disassembled both and found that the Japanese units build quality control was so exceptional that each transmission was virtually identical, with tight tolerances that made them run smoother and better.
