- When cost of living goes up we feel poorer. However, things we can afford may have been luxury items just a few years or decades ago.
- Some things have actually gotten cheaper like comptuers.
- Things which were luxuries in the 1950s are now available in discount shops.
- Kings in teh middle ages did not have running water, indoor toilets, or hot food.
